Sacramento Streets
The Streets of Sacramento
Sacramento is an interesting place. I am a new transplant, hailing from North Carolina, via, Ohio, via San Diego, via Ohio, via North Dakota, via Ohio again, via Massachusetts. I think that was the order. Anyway, I've seen some big cities, and very small towns, (Zap North Dakota anyone?) so I came to Sacramento with some expectations that really were nothing like how it is here.
As a photographer who loves street photography I'm finding Sacramento as a place that pushes me a little bit in a different direction then what I was used to in the last few years. Previously I was used to shooting in a rural area. That's what I love about street photography, it's so versatile. You can be anywhere and do it.
I know that street photography originated in the city, capturing life on the streets. It's true, the streets in big cities are life in concentrate. You have so much happening and so much of humanity being represented in such a small area, but street photography, for me, has always been about life. Life happens outside the city too. In the small oceanside town where I just came from to here in the capital of this amazing state, it's happening to us all.
I'm glad to be here in Sacramento walking the streets and capturing the people and the little corners that make up this city. I plan on shooting here for a long time to come. I've made this place my home and I hope to capture it as much as I can before my time is up.
